Police fired warning shot during arrest in Oslo city center

A man was arrested after a stabbing at Schous plass in Oslo.

The police used an electric shock weapon and fired a warning shot during the arrest.

The victim is seriously injured said police.

‘’There is one who is injured. A knife had been used to inflict the injury’’ said Operations Manager, Tor Jøkling of Oslo Police District to TV 2.

The victim has been hospitalised. The police carried out site investigations and other work on and at the scene.

It is not yet known whether there was any relationship between the perpetrator and the victim, but the police said, according to TV 2, that there were witnesses to the stabbing.

To VG newspaper, Jøkling said the police had received emergency telephone calls from the area at 08.00 on Tuesday, and that the messages referred to an unstable man who shouted and screamed while holding a knife in his hand.
