The police in Oslo have carried out another blood alcohol level check aimed at electric scooter riders. The operation resulted in eight reports and two driver’s licenses being seized.

The inspection was carried out on Saturday in Hausmanns gate, the day after a similar inspection on Akershusstranda.

“Two people had their driver’s license confiscated. Two more people would have had it confiscated if they had had a driver’s license,” operations manager Vidar Pedersen stated.

On June 15, new rules were introduced for electric scooters, including the blood alcohol limit. Electric scooters were reclassified from bicycles to motor vehicles. Thus, people can now lose their driver’s license if they drive electric scooters while drunk.

The general blood alcohol limit of 0.2 per mille now also applies to driving small electric vehicles under the influence.

The police in the capital and other parts of the country have announced several checks to enforce the new regulations.

In the center of Molde, a man in his 20s had his driver’s license seized for riding an electric scooter in a drunken state on Sunday.
