A police officer in Vestfold has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for having used his position to have sex with three women, according to TV 2 and Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

According to Vestfold District Court, the man has used his position to get sex for a long time, with three different women, TV 2 writes. The policeman was convicted on Wednesday.

One of the vulnerable women was a victim, witness, charged, suspected, or convicted in many different cases that the accused investigated. The sexual intercourse is said to have taken place repeatedly from 2015 to 2019 – in parallel, she was giving the accused information about the local drug community.

The policeman also worked on cases where the other two women were involved. He denied having had sexual intercourse with any of the victims.

The Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs filed a claim for two years of imprisonment, but the district court concluded that he should be sentenced to two years and three months of prison. In addition, the man has to pay NOK 300,000 in compensation to the three women.
