Police start investigation into suspicious death in Fredrikstad

One person has been found dead in Fredrikstad on Thursday. Police are treating the death as suspicious.

The police were notified of the death by health personnel at 9:50 AM on Thursday, according to Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

“We want to investigate the death. It appears suspicious. We do not know what happened or why. Based on the information we have, we need to start an investigation to clarify the situation,” operations manager Svein Walle in the Eastern Police District told news bureau NTB.

He did not want to comment on whether there were more people at the place where the person was found. However, he confirmed that the deceased was found indoors.

“We will conduct interviews of, among others, the health personnel. Forensic examinations will also be carried out by forensic technicians.”

The police have moved out to an address in the center of Fredrikstad, according to the newspaper Fredriksstad Blad.
