When Prime Minister Erna Solberg visits Barack Obama in Washington, the husband will attend a separate get-together along with the rest of the Nordic “first ladies”.
– It will be a kind of “spouses of the heads of state program” that will include lunch at the White House with Michelle Obama, says Erna Solberg told newspaper VG.
The heads of state of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden will all visit Obama at the White House on May 13 this year. While they will be discussing important topics, the get-together of the spouses will be more informal.
– The lunch has been moved to the garden. I suppose they are going to put up a party tent there. I think it’s going to be nice. I am well familiar with party tent from my Boy Scout days, Sindre Finnes says.
Ahead of the meeting Sinnes will be given a course in the cases that Michelle Obama has worked on extensively with: the right of girls to education and other international women’s issues.
Solberg suggests to VG that her husband might risk being asked to dance by the US first lady, something he is not particularly keen on.
– The role of the”First Lady” roles is primarily as a supportive function for whoever is prime minister. I think I will focus on that, he said.
