PST fears the Eid celebrations could be a symbolic target for right-wing extremists

PST believes that this years celebration of the Muslim holiday Eid is not the subject of any concrete threat, but writes that it can be a symbolic target for right-wing extremists. 

-”There is no specific threat against the Celebrations of Eid al-adha in Norway.”, writes the Police Security Service(PST) in a press release in advance of this years Muslim Eid holdiays which begin on Thursday and will last until Monday.

PST, nevertheless, points out two factors that they consider could influence the threats. 

-”Firstly, the holiday can be considered a symbolic target for right-wing extremists. Secondly, a large number of Muslims, who are considered part of the far-right enemy image, will be gathered in mosques and associated events.”, writes PST.

The Oslo Police District informs on Twitter that they will be present in the city to secure the population in connection to the Eid Celebration.
