Norwegian quality improvement of laboratory studies (Noklus) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health are trying out the so-called rapid tests, writes Bergens Tidende.
– “Such a test will be particularly good for identifying how many people have already been ill. They can be a good supplement to the test that is already used by health professionals,” says consultant Mette Christophersen Tollånes in Noklus to the newspaper.
The tests used today are called PCR, but the test capacity is limited. The new tests should be easy to use and give an answer within ten minute and can show if people have been ill.
Testing will probably start next week, and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health states that it is carefully considering how the tests should be recommended.
