Rain is expected in several places in Norway this weekend, with some snow in Northern Norway.
“It will not exactly be beautiful spring weather this weekend, no. People can expect changeable weather towards the weekend – and during the weekend. The weekend will be characterized by rain,” on-duty meteorologist Rannveig Eikill from the Meteorological Institute told news bureau NTB.
In Troms and Finnmark, the temperatures will drop, and snow is expected during the weekend.
“There will be snow in Finnmark both on Saturday and Sunday. There will be some snow, but also some sleet, in Tromsø,” Eikill added.
9 millimeters of snow
Yr expects 4-5 centimeters of snow on Saturday night and about the same Sunday morning in Finnmark. Then, the snow showers are expected to subside.
“It is quite common to have snow in Northern Norway at this time of year. We can only hope that the snow does not stay there until June 1, as was the case last year,” Eikill noted.
In Central Norway, there will be more rain than snow this weekend.
“In Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag there will be scattered rain showers, especially on Friday and into the evening. There will probably also be some rain showers on both Saturday and Sunday,” she said, adding that temperatures will reach up to 15 degrees in Molde this weekend.
Rain in Oslo
There will also be rain in Western Norway, according to Eikill.
“It will be especially rainy on Sunday night, and it will continue to rain next week as well.”
In Bergen, the could be some sunny weather on Friday and Saturday, but there will be heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday. The same applies to the Stavanger area.
Not surprisingly, it will also rain heavily in Oslo on Sunday and Monday. Up to 20 millimeters of precipitation is expected in the two days.
“Oslo will be characterized by changing weather this weekend. There may be breaks on Saturday morning, but on Sunday and Monday, there will only be rain,” the meteorologist concluded.
