It is impossible to close down Oslo for a long time, Oslo City Council chief Raymond Johansen notes.

The number of coronavirus cases is declining in Norway as a whole, in Nordre Follo, and not least in Oslo.

Nevertheless, the strictest measures since March have been introduced in the Oslo area.

The reason is that the health authorities want to be cautious and attempt to quell the outbreaks of the mutated virus from the UK.

“Impossible to defend”

But Oslo City Council chief Raymond Johansen told the newspaper Aftenposten that the new tightening can’t last long.

“It is not possible to keep this precautionary strategy (in place) for weeks if we do not see an increase in infection. It is impossible to defend and to communicate. Let’s use this week to get an overview,” Johansen said.

He added that the situation in Oslo is very uncertain.
