Record-high corona infection rates in Denmark – over 1500 new omicron cases registered in a single day

Denmark is experiencing record corona infection rates again, with new 8773 cases registered in the last 24 hours. 

The number of hospital admissions is on a par with February figures from earlier in the year.

The number of newly infected people is the highest that has been registered since March last year. Every new day this week, a new daily infection record has been set, the Statens Serum Institut announced.

In addition, the number of registered cases of the omicron variant in the country has increased by 1512 in the last 24 hours, to a total of 6047 cases.

The number of hospitalized corona patients increased by ten people to a total of 508. 

Of those admitted, 66 patients are in intensive care, four fewer than on Tuesday. Of the 66, 43 are on respirators.
