A total of 124 people were killed in Sweden in 2020, which is the highest number since the country’s Crime Prevention Council began keeping such statistics.

The Crime Prevention Council (Brå) presented its report for 2020 on Tuesday, and it appears that 124 people were killed last year, SVT reports.

Never before has Brå registered so many murders in Sweden in a single year. That is an increase of 13 murders from 2019.

A total of 90% of those killed were 18 years or older. Out of the adult murder victims, 23 were women and 89 men.

Furthermore, two girls and ten boys under the age of 18 were killed in 2020.
