10,600 people participated in parades and processions to mark the 1st of May in Oslo. It’s a record, writes FriFag movement.

The number of participants are counted by LO.

Free-subject movement writes that up until 1990 there were several different processions in Oslo, and that none of them brought in 10,000 participants.

The old record of participants was 9,500 and was set in 1990. It was tied in 2015. The record is a marked increase from last year, when 8,300 went on these processions. In 2017, the figure was 9,200, while in 2016 it was 7,250.

Arne Rolijordet, who has had the assignment to keep count for LO, says that between 2002 and 2012 there were never more than 8,000 participants in the 1st of May 1 parades.
