Meteorologists have issued a red danger warning for avalanches for the Salten, Svartisen, and Voss areas.

A red danger warning means that the situation is extreme, Yr writes, adding that this level of danger is very rare.

Both Yr and Varsom report that large avalanche danger is expected in the Voss region on Tuesday. The risk of avalanches depends on the levels and amounts of snow and wind.

“Landslides can hit avalanche-prone roads and buildings,” Yr wrote in its warning.

A red danger level for avalanches has also been issued for the Salten and Svartisen regions, both for Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Finnmark, an avalanche closed the only road to Hammerfest and the hospital in western Finnmark. The head of the clinic informed Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that a path has been freed up for ambulances.
