The Red Party (Rødt) decided to support the no-confidence motion against the Environmental Councilor Lan Marie Berg (MDG) in Oslo City Council and ask her to resign.

Group leader Eivor Evenrud for Rødt in Oslo City Council announced the information on Tuesday when she met the press outside Oslo City Hall.

“For Rødt, openness is absolutely central to politics,” Evenrud said. She was strongly critical of Berg’s handling of the much-discussed budget gap in the construction of Oslo’s new water supply solution.

The Green Party’s (MDG) Lan Marie Berg now risks being forced to resign in connection with the issue. It is estimated to cost NOK 17.7 billion, which is NOK 5.2 billion more than previously estimated. The opposition in Oslo has described this as the biggest budget gap in any Norwegian municipality ever.

Lack of leadership?

Rødt’s group leader believes Berg has shown a lack of control and leadership in the case.

“Oslo will spend more billions on a new water supply, and that project must be managed, led, and informed by a city councilor that we trust,” Evenrud said.
