A search and rescue operation has been launched in Sirdal after two women in their 60s were reported missing.

According to the police, one woman has an injury to her foot. Both women are accustomed to the mountains and well equipped.

Operations manager in the Southwestern Police District, Toralv Skaarland, told news bureau NTB that the police were notified about the women at 8:05 AM on Sunday and that the air search has not yielded results.

“We have had occasional contact with the women, but the telephone coverage is a bit poor,” he said.
