A study suggesting that intestinal flora can be linked to obesity is being withdrawn after it was revealed that one of the researchers fabricated data.

In 2014, a study was published in the prestigious research journal Diabetes. It showed that mice that had a tendency to put on weight, had a type of characteristic, obesity-promoting intestinal flora.
Now, this article has been withdrawn, Retraction Watch reports. This means that the results of the study are no longer considered scientifically valid, writes Forskning.no.
The magazine itself reported that the researcher who led the study in question wanted to withdraw it. This is because an internal investigation by the research institute revealed that one of the authors, Yassine Sakar, cheated by fabricating data.
