Several people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a nursing home in Sannergata in Oslo on Sunday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown.

“The fire has been extinguished, but it has generated a lot of smoke, which led to many of the nursing home’s residents being evacuated… Otherwise, no injuries have been reported,” operations manager Tor Gulbrandsen in the Oslo Police District told NTB.

He further stated that the fire started inside a room.

“It is too early to say anything about the cause of the fire, but one possibility may be that the curtain in a room caught fire,” he said.

“Taken as a whole, the situation is under control. Those who were exposed to the smoke are being checked up by health personnel. As for the room and the damage, it is too early to say whether it is now uninhabitable,” Gulbrandsen added.
