A man in his 20s from Ringsaker has been charged with aggravated embezzlement. He is charged with defrauding several friends with whom he had established a car dealership in Hedmark.

According to the indictment, the fraud took place in the period between May and August 2020, and the man allegedly took NOK 397,880, newspaper Ringsaker Blad writes.

The defendant owned 20% of the company. On several occasions, he allegedly charged the business’s accounts with his private expenses. He also allegedly transferred money to his private account.

Case details

According to Ringsaker Blad, the embezzlement was discovered when the man went on a holiday for a week, and the money from a car that had been sold did not appear in the account of the car dealership.

Investigations showed that the money had gone straight into the defendant’s account.

“There is a disagreement between the parties about the basis for the indictment, including the amount,” lawyer Stine Rigmor Grimstad, the man’s defender, noted.

The case will take place in Østre Innlandet District Court in Hamar this autumn.
