The royal couple will celebrate Christmas at Kongsseteren with Princess Märtha Louise this year, while the Crown Prince family will celebrate Christmas at the cottage in Uvdal, reports the Palace to NTB.
A united royal family posed for the annual Christmas photo shoot on Monday at the Palace.
This year, the family was pictured while admiring a gingerbread model of the Palace made by Fridheim kindergarten in Oslo.
As none of the members of the royal family are to celebrate Christmas at the Palace, perhaps the gingerbread model of the royal residence will be included in the luggage when the royal couple is to celebrate Christmas at Kongsseteren, which is their private property at Voksenkollen in Oslo.
Princess Märtha Louise will also celebrate Christmas at Kongsseteren.
Crown Prince Couple at the cabin
On the first day of Christmas, the royal couple will be present during the service in Holmenkollen chapel.
In recent years, the Crown Prince family has alternated between celebrating Christmas at Kongsseteren, Skaugum and the family’s cottage in Uvdal in Buskerud, and this year there will be a celebration at the cottage.
The Crown Prince couple bought the cabin in Fjellsnaret in Nore and Uvdal in 2007.
Visited women’s prison
In the period before Christmas, the Crown Prince couple will visit the children’s ward at Drammen hospital.
Queen Sonja has for many years conducted pre-Christmas visits at an institution or at an organization that does not usually receive royal guests. This year, the election fell on the Bredtveit Women’s Prison, which received a queen visit last week.
During the visit, the queen was given a presentation of the prison and its activities; and she was given a tour and met with inmates.
