Russian health authorities have approved a new variant of the Sputnik V corona vaccine that reportedly requires only one dose to give the full effect.

The name of the new vaccine is Sputnik Light, and it should be identical to the first dose given by the original Sputnik V.

Despite the approval, it must undergo a comprehensive test program to demonstrate compliance with established methods and standards, news bureau NTB reports.

The trials on humans started in January, and they have not been completed yet, it is said.
