Russia claims to have “disabled” 83 Ukrainian military facilities.

In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that Russia has taken down four planes and a drone during its so-called special military operation, the news agency Tass reports.

“All the tasks assigned to Russian soldiers for the day were solved successfully,” Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated.

He also stressed that the military operation in Ukraine would continue.

According to Interfax, Konashenkov also said that Russian soldiers from Donetsk and Luhansk breached an area between 6 to 8 kilometers deep through the “well-equipped Ukrainian defense (forces),” thanks to air and artillery support.

In the middle of the night, around 4 AM Norwegian time, in an extraordinary television address, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was launching a military operation in Ukraine.

Putin announced the attack on Ukraine during an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council.

Ukraine has closed its airspace to civilian flights.
