Russia is expelling three Norwegian diplomats in response to Norway expelling Russian diplomats in April. Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt (AP) is not surprised by the decision.

The three are Norwegian diplomats at the embassy in Moscow, it is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

They have been declared unwanted in Russia. The expulsion comes as a reaction to Norway expelling three Russian diplomats on April 6.

“Our decision to declare three Russian diplomats unwanted in Norway before Easter was taken because they have conducted activities that contradict their diplomatic status. It is also an expression of our reaction to Russia’s brutal behavior in Ukraine,” Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt (AP) told NTB.

Not surprised

At the same time, she noted she was not surprised by Russia’s decision.

“Norway will continue to stand with our close allies and partners against Russia’s aggression and in our support of Ukraine.”

“Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has had consequences on relations between Norway and Russia. Like other European countries and allies, we have reduced contact with the Russian authorities to a minimum. We want to protect cooperation and channels of direct importance for safety and security,” she added.

  1. Meanwhile, conservative or libertarian Republican Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky has finally found the … backbone … to publicly accuse Blinken and Biden about their Ukraine War. See the (panicked) WashPost column today, “Rand Paul says U.S. backing Ukraine in NATO played role in Russia’s invasion.”
    My comment beneath:
What? Finally some life from Rand?? 🙄 😕

How about a televised debate between the two?
Someone needs to drive home the facts about Kyiv 2014 being our neocons’ Budapest peace agreement breaking Kiev coup.
Biden&Blinken’s opposition to the fair security treaty to end the East Ukraine war was decisive, leaving the Russians with no option except invasion, although they were still struggling for a diplomatic solution.
But it was Volodymyr himself – pumped up by Europeans at Munich – who specifically triggered things, when he intimated Ukraine was open to getting nuclear weapons.

… meaning he if he didn’t get what he wanted, he would consider what was left of the Budapest agreement – the prohibition against Ukraine having nuclear weapons – invalid.

    20Feb22: Russia invades.

The Russians are reportedly currently bogged down in rain (which we badly need here instead) and mud/rasputitsa and might be willing to negotiate short of finishing their Donbass operation.
