Russia: Norwegian activities threaten regional security

Norway has become the scene of a military build-up at Russia’s borders ahead of the exercise in which American bombers will participate, the authorities in Russia believe.

“Obviously, we can not talk about calm when tensions build up on Russia’s borders, and a powerful exercise area is being formed for military operations against our country,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the Moscow press on Thursday.

American B-1B bombers are expected to fly to Ørlandet this month for a joint exercise with the air force that guards the NATO alliance’s northern flank.

Zakharova claims that the Norwegian-American co-operation is “the latest in a series of similar incidents,” which underlines the “permanent” presence of “American, British, and Dutch” forces in Northern Norway.

“Such activities on the part of Oslo threaten regional security and put an end to the Norwegian tradition of not allowing foreign military bases on its territory in peacetime,” Zakharova said.

  1. Sivillforsvars?? (Civil defense??)

  2. And what are the *Dutch* up to? Planning on migrating to Norway like the Danes, when the rising ocean floods them out?

Netherlands, 41,543 square kilometers. Danmark, 42,933.

Svalbard, 61,022 square kilometers. Nova Zemlya 90,650. But these last figures will be less, after the melting.
