On Sunday, Russia’s military exercises in Belarus were supposed to end, but the Russian forces will remain in the country due to the current level of tension in Ukraine.
On Sunday, Belarus confirmed that Russian forces would conduct several military exercises with their Belarusian counterparts.
The decision is due to increased military activity along the countries’ borders and “escalation” in eastern Ukraine.
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin confirmed the news in a statement.
