Do not travel by public transport unless you really have to, and make weekend trips to local areas, Ruter noted in a message ahead of the weekend.

“It is completely understandable that people need to go out, but we strongly encourage them not to use public transport for leisure activities.

“We must all contribute so that those who have to travel can do so in a safe way,” CEO of Ruter Bernt Reitan Jenssen noted in a press release.

He advised people to take weekend trips to local areas and not use public transport if it is not strictly necessary.

As a result of the large demand for public transport, Ruter will implement extra buses this weekend if the need arises.
