Search operation underway in Karasjok: A cloudberry picker in his 70s reported missing

A search operation has been launched after a cloudberry picker in his 70s has been reported missing in Karasjok.

The Finnmark Police District reported the search after 5:30 AM on Thursday. The fire service is also participating in the operation.

“We are in the process of establishing a search operation by helicopter, and at the ground level, with both private and public resources,” operations manager Lars Rune Hagen told NTB at 7:30 AM.

According to the police, the man is used to being in the mountains.

At 9:25 AM, the police reported in an update that the missing berry picker was in an ATV when he went missing and that search crews have found the ATV. The missing person has not been found yet.
