On Tuesday afternoon, Norwegian security guards held a strike demonstration outside the NHO building at Majorstua in Oslo. The strikers wanted to speak directly to the employer party in the labor conflict.

Outside the building, numerous guards were holding large posters with their demands.

Parat union leader Unn Kristin Olsen appealed to NHO and the employers, asking them to meet the guards’ demands.

Parat’s chief negotiator, Lars Petter Larsen, says that the strike is now being stepped up. It will become more visible to the public.

Strike escalation

“When the guards at Norway’s busiest traffic hub Oslo S go on strike, many will be affected,” Larsen said.

The State Conciliator of Norway (Riksmekleren) summoned the parties for mediation.

Parat and NHO Service og Handel will meet on Friday, September 16, for a new round of mediation talks.
