Seven out of ten respondents in the Norwegian Corona Monitor survey are positive about wearing a face mask. At the same time, three out of ten households in Norway reported corona-related sick leave last month.

“Most people choose face masks rather than omicron,” according to senior adviser Nora Clausen in Opinion.

Most people think face masks are perfectly OK in the face of increased infection. As many as 71% of respondents in January answered that they are positive about using face masks, while 16% were negative.

Clausen says that even though there was a decrease in the proportion of positive sentiment for face mask use in January, the overall preference is that the population is still positive when it comes to face mask use.

As many as 92% answered that they usually wear face masks in public places where it is difficult to keep a distance of one meter from others, while 70% said they are just as careful about washing hands and keeping distance now compared to earlier in the pandemic.

Two out of three Norwegians (65%) said that they have confidence that the pace of vaccination in Norway is effective – 19% above the average for the last twelve months.
