An alarming number of children and youngsters have visited the outdoors drug user area in Oslo this summer, says the Outdoor Section in Oslo.

They sent a total of 47 concerns to Child Welfare Services this summer. That is more than ever before, writes P4.

The youngest observed in this area were twelve years old.

“We are observing an unfortunate trend in the center of Oslo where the threshold for drug use and access to outdoor drug use areas will be lower for children and young people,” says Børge Erdal in the Utesection in the municipality of Oslo.

Most minors have been observed in the outdoor drug use area at Vaterland in the center of Oslo, where there is a lot of use and sale of cannabis. The outdoor section believes that children are being exploited by middle men.

The outdoor section sends on average of five to 15 concern messages a month.
