Challenging weather and the significant danger of avalanches in Nordland have led to several roads in the county being closed on Sunday.

The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) has issued an orange warning, meaning that there is a significant risk of avalanches, for Salten, Svartisen, and Helgeland in Nordland on Sunday.

The same warning applies to Trollheimen in Møre og Romsdal and Nordenskiöld Land on Spitsbergen.

Fylkesvei 889 Snefjord – Havøysund, fylkesvei Beiarfjellet, fylkesvei 7340 Bleikvassli – Hattfjelldal and E12 Umbukta are closed due to bad weather, Vegsentralen nord announced on Twitter.

On Sunday, Vegsentralen will make new assessments of whether the roads can be opened.

Highway 73 Krutfjellet has difficult driving conditions and reduced visibility and could be closed at short notice, Vegsentralen stated on Sunday.
