The Public Health Institute has sent out a warning to several people Sunday evening after a fellow passenger on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Oslo has been diagnosed with measles.

– “When we confirm that an airline passenger has been ill with measles, it is routine to send out a message to everyone who was on that plane,” says senior consultant Siri Helene Hauge at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health to VG.

The passengers on that flight in question were notified by email.

Measles is highly contagious. If you have not been vaccinated or had the disease before, you are at risk of getting the disease if you are exposed.

– “If you are vaccinated, you do not need to do anything, as the vaccine is very effective. However, this is a reminder that everyone who is offered the vaccine should take it,” says Hauge.

The National Institute of Public Health was informed of the ill passenger via international networks, which diagnosed the patient outside Norway.
