As fine weather continues in the south, low pressure is moving in towards Northern Norway. On Thursday, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued several danger warnings.

“There is low pressure coming in from the sea and towards the northern part of the country. So there is a danger warning for snow in Sør-Troms.

“On Thursday and Friday, there will generally be a lot of snow in Troms and Nordland,” meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis at the Meteorological Institute told news bureau NTB on Wednesday.

On Thursday, meteorologists announced on Twitter that a large low-pressure area would hit Northern Norway during the night to Friday.

The low pressure will cause snow, wind, thunder, and high waves in the northernmost part of the country. Several danger warnings have now been issued for Northern Norway.

Varsom.no also increased its risk assessment of avalanches for both Thursday and Friday.

The degree of danger has been upgraded from significant to great. On Twitter, they wrote that the risk of avalanches at Norway’s second-largest glacier, Svartisen in Nordland county, is great and asked everyone to stay away from avalanche terrain.
