According to a new study, men in the Norwegian Armed Forces who live and work with women become more positive towards equality and have a better attitude towards the opposite sex.

“It is clear that you can change attitudes. But we see that attitudes return after a while,” one of the researchers behind the study, Andreas Kotsadam from the Frisch Center, told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Researchers from Sweden, the USA, and Norway are behind the study, in which 500 recruits from Brigade Nord, the major combat formation and only brigade of the Norwegian Army, participated.

The men who shared rooms with women were more positive about equality than those who did not and had better attitudes towards the opposite sex.

But only half a year after the recruitment period was over, the men returned to attitudes they held before.
