In the last 24 hours, 54 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Bergen. That is 39 more than on the same day last week.

The Municipality is in an ongoing dialogue with the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) to assess whether there is a need to introduce more targeted measures, the newspaper Bergens Tidende (BT) writes.

According to figures from Bergen Municipality, the infection is greatest among the younger age groups, and 34 of the newly infected people are between 20 and 29 years old.

“The infection rates are high, especially in the age group 20-29 years. We are still in a pandemic, and since there is now a lot of infection in Bergen, it is important to be extra careful when it comes to the infection control measures,” infection control officer Egil Bovim stated on Thursday.

Since the start of the pandemic, 7,162 people have been infected with the coronavirus in the Municipality.
