So far in 2022, eleven people have drowned – ten were men and one woman. That is three more people than at the same time last year.

All of the people who drowned were over 20 years old, and more than half of them were 60 years or older, according to the Norwegian Sea Rescue Society’s drowning statistics.

The Norwegian Sea Rescue Society asks people to be careful, especially close to icy waters.

“Knowing that the cold shock will pass is important. Then you avoid panic and can use the energy to gain control of your breath and stay afloat. After that, you can find a way to save yourself,” Tanja Krangnes at the Rescue Society stated.
