Well over half of Norwegian municipalities have included the risk of a school shooting in their contingency plans.

This is revealed in the annual municipal survey of the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB), which will be presented on Friday.
Municipalities were this year asked whether the municipal comprehensive risk and vulnerability list (RAV)  includes an assessment of school shooting as one of the possible risks.
59 percent of the municipalities answered yes, 37 percent no and 4 percent were not sure.
– A majority of municipalities have therefore evaluated such a serious incident in holistic ROS, the report said.

Must be prepared
More than six out of ten school shootings worldwide until the end of 2011 occurred in the United States.
– We have been spared this in Norway. It is also important that we have given this a lot of thought and, in case something that horrible is going to happen here in Norway, are prepared for it and have taken our precautions,  Gjermund Hagesæter (FRP) in the Ministry of Justice said to the news agency NTB.
