Fatland slaughterhouse will slaughter around 1,500 pigs for Prima Jæren this Christmas after the data attack on Nortura.

“It is true that we will slaughter a lot of pigs for Prima Jæren this week due to the data attack. This is not a good situation for Prima Jæren,” co-owner Vidar Fatland in Fatland slaughterhouses told the newspaper Nationen.

Prima Jæren is a privately owned local meat company in Hå Municipality. A total of 470 producers supply meat to the company.

In 2014, the Prima Group sold its slaughterhouse business Prima Slakt AS, which slaughters animals for Prima Jæren, to Nortura. But now, this business is affected by the Nortura attack.

According to Fatland, around 1,500 pigs will be slaughtered for Prima Jæren.

“Prima needed to slaughter some (of the pigs) at Christmas, and we are grateful that Fatland is covering it,” Executive Vice President for Sustainability and Communication at Nortura, Kjell S. Rakkenes, told the newspaper.
