Stormy weather in Southern Norway has led to challenging driving conditions in several places. The E16 over Filefjell is the only open mountain pass between Eastern and Western Norway.

There are major problems due to the difficult driving conditions, Vegtrafikksentralen øst reports.

The storm has led to most of the mountain passes in Southern Norway being closed. The E16 over Filefjell was the only open mountain pass between Eastern and Western Norway on Thursday morning.

“There are traffic problems in several places in the area due to snowfall and wind. Several lorries are waiting in the area,” the Innlandet Police District announced.

The E16 is closed between Øye and Kvam on the east side of Filefjell due to several lorries that are stuck, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration reported.

Roads and passes closed

E134 Haukelifjell is closed due to avalanches. The clean-up work is expected to take several days, and work is underway to open the road on Saturday at 10 AM.

Fylkesvei 50 Hol-Aurland is closed. County road 53 Tyin-Årdal, national road 13 Vikafjellet, and national road 15 Strynefjellet are also closed.

Highway 7 Hardangervidda is closed. A new assessment will be announced at 6 PM, Vegtrafikksentralen vest informs.
