KrF (Christian People’s Party) becomes the largest party in Sokndal in Rogaland. Primary candidate is 21-year-old Jonas Andersen Sayed, who can thus become the youngest Norwegian mayor of all time, reports NRK.

All the votes in Sokndal are counted, and KrF ends up with 26.4 % of the votes. NRK finds Andersen Sayed will be mayor.

“It’s not 100 % certain. But we are the biggest party, so we have a good chance,” he tells NTB.

“The result itself is fantastic. It is beyond all expectation,” he continues.

Andersen Sayed feels ready to take on the task.

“I feel we can do that. We have been given a strong mandate, and if this is the way it goes, then we together with the other parties, will be able to find good solutions for the municipality,” he says.

The 21-year-old was only 17 when he was elected to the municipal council for the first time. He lives in Stavanger where he studies political science, but says that he will move home if he becomes mayor, according to NRK.
