The Government has notified a requirement for participation in Norwegian education for recipients of social assistance. The Prime Minister believes
that this may partly be in place during 2020.
Erna Solberg of Høyre (H) told Nettavisen newspaper that passing a law on such a requirement is the first thing to do.
‘’Then we have to see if we start with groups that already have rights, but it will take one year before we have all the legislation in place and we can set the requirement. In the course of 2020, we should put in place such an arrangement, at least for some of these groups’’ said the Prime Minister.
The Granavolden platform states: “Required participation in Norwegian language training for recipients of economic social assistance, who due
to lack of Norwegian skills are not yet self-reliant”.
