Prime Minister Erna Solberg commends Norwegian diplomacy efforts in the talks that led to the agreement on a peace agreement in Colombia.
– We have made a tremendous efforts in Norwegian diplomacy to promote and facilitate this. First and foremost it is the parties who have wanted and desired peace who led the effort, the Prime Minister said to the news agency NTB.
She describes the peace process between the Colombian government and the FARC guerrillas as a “fantastic milestone” and expresses the hope that there could be lasting peace in Colombia after more than 50 years of civil war.
– I believe that the agreement could form the basis for lasting peace, but it’s going to be difficult. Reconciliation Processes after having made peace are also tough and difficult, she said.
