Peace Prize winner Abiy Ahmed has created hope in an area characterized by violence and conflict, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg (Høyre/Conservative Party).
During a press conference Friday morning, Solberg congratulated the Ethiopian Prime Minister on the award.
“He has shown great courage by initiating reconciliation after years of conflict. He has created hope in an area of Africa that has for too long been characterized by violence, conflict and poverty, although much remains,” Solberg said.
She believes Ahmed has contributed to a more peaceful relationship between the countries of the Horn of Africa.
“It is absolutely crucial. That so many people live in conflict areas slows us down in achieving sustainability goals.”
