The situation in Russia has influenced the government’s long-term plan for the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Erna Solberg says.
– Our plan is influenced by what we consider to be the greatest military dangers of the Russian Military. They have got more long-range missiles, therefore we need to increase our air defense, says Solberg said.
On Friday, the Government presented the new long-term plan for the Armed Forces, and for the next 20 years 165 billion kroner will be invested on the military sector.
– We’re going to get a Military that will be much more balanced than it is right now, which among other things are more adjusted to technological developments, and adapted to the challenges Norway face in the northern areas, the Prime Minister said.
The long-term plan is based on continued cooperation with NATO, says Solberg.
– But unlike previously we will now focus on strengthening Norwegian needs.
