Prime Minister Erna Solberg and the government is deeply concerned over the situations in Syria.

Solberg believes Russia has a special responsibility to stop the hostilities.

– UN General Secretary describes the situation in Aleppo as worse than a slaughterhouse. This is unusual powerful words, but it is appropriate for the situation we are up to, said Solberg during a news conference this Friday.

The Prime Minister and the government is deeply concerned about situations in Syria, where it is carried out attacks on civilians, hospitals and rescue teams.

– It is totally unacceptable and Norway strongly condemns this, said Solberg.

She stressed that the situation is worst in Aleppo, where women and children are particularly vulnerable and that the Syrian air force needs to be stopped and also attacks on civilians to be stopped immediately.

– There is a danger of a humanitarian catastrophe, and Russia, with its large presence and support for Assad, has a special responsibility to stop the fighting, said Solberg.
