Solberg: The AstraZeneca pause will prolong the time necessary to fully vaccinated Norway’s population

Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) said that she hopes the uncertainty surrounding AstraZeneca’s corona vaccine will be clarified quickly.

However, she noted that the issue would delay the vaccination in Norway.

“It will prolong the time necessary for us to be fully vaccinated. But I think this will be clarified quickly,” Solberg told newspaper VG.

“We got much less AstraZeneca (vaccines) in the first quarter than we expected originally. In that sense, it is a much smaller share of our vaccine program right now than we had hoped it would be,” Solberg added.

On Thursday, the Norwegian health authorities announced that the AstraZeneca vaccination must be stopped until the European Medicines Agency’s investigations are completed.

The decision came after Denmark and at least five other countries put the vaccination with AstraZeneca vaccines on hold after several vaccinated people reported blood clots.
