The Norwegian government will maintain its current infection control measures for at least the next three weeks. Prime Minister Erna Solberg says it is too early to relax.

“It is too early to say whether the decline in the numbers is sufficient. We must see a clear decline in the figures for at least three more weeks,” Solberg said during Tuesday’s press conference.

She also said there is no room for large Christmas parties this year. According to Solberg, the Christmas celebration will be different in 2020.

A different Christmas

Next week, there will be concrete guidelines from the government about the Christmas celebration.

“With increased travel activity, the chance of the infection spreading also increases,” Solberg warned.

“In any case, there will be no room to plan big Christmas parties or New Year’s parties this year. The celebration will be different,” Solberg said.
