Norway and the United Kingdom should strengthen defence policy cooperation, said Prime Minister, Erna Solberg of Høyre (H).
Solberg spoke about security and defence policy at the RUSI Institute when she visited London on Wednesday.
She agreed to strengthen and further develop bilateral cooperation between Norway and the United Kingdom.
Such bilateral agreements should not replace broader organizations like NATO, however, agreements with individual countries and groups of countries can add additional value, she stressed.
“Norway is therefore committed to developing closer cooperation with selected allies and Nordic partners. The United Kingdom is an ally, as we have deepened defence cooperation over time. The others are Germany, France and the Netherlands,” said Solberg.
“All these countries are able to strengthen each other in crises, and such cooperation can also make the alliance stronger,” she said.
