A soldier was charged with careless handling of weapons after a shooting accident at Mågerøy in Færder Municipality on Tuesday.
The Southeastern Police District states that a young female conscript was hit by a shot during an exercise on Tuesday. She is still being treated at Oslo University Hospital.
The woman is seriously injured but out of danger, the police write. Police have questioned a number of witnesses.
The soldier who is now charged with careless handling of weapons will be questioned on Wednesday, police attorney Sigrun Våge at the Tønsberg police station stated.
The accident happened during a military exercise at Mågerøy at 4:20 PM on Tuesday.
