The proposed new rules for child support were made public on Tuesday.  The government wants fairer rules and less opportunity for misuse of the child support.

The minister of Children and Equality Minister Solveig Horne hopes that the new rules  will be approved before the New Year, Nettavisen writes .
– The main objective of the proposals is to make the child support scheme better, more accurate and fairer,  Horne says to Nettavisen .
A new proposal for amendments to the rules on child support and changes in the rules for child support to children who have reached the age of 18, will be sent out for consultation Tuesday.
The government recommends changing how the amount of support for children over 18 years is to be calculated, and making changes that are to  prevent the misuse of the child support. They want Nav will have the opportunity to check whether youth are studying when they get grants for studying. The proposal also includes lower support for custodial parents with several children, because the government wants to take into account the economies of scale and its benefits for people with more children in their households.
