Several health professionals in Norway who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine as the first dose don’t want to take the second dose, as it now has to be from Pfizer or Moderna.

The reason is that they are worried about side effects and mixing doses from different manufacturers, newspaper VG writes.

The newspaper has been in contact with many municipalities that state that there is health personnel who refuse the second dose.

As many as 90% of those who received the first dose of AstraZeneca in Norway before its use was stopped in the country were healthcare professionals.

FHI: No national overview

A survey conducted by the Sykepleien journal in April shows that almost one in ten nurses who have been vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca do not want to take the second dose, regardless of the manufacturer.

According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI), there is currently no national overview of how many health workers do not want to take the second dose.

Steinar Madsen, director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, says that it is generally important that health personnel are well protected.
